Idioms: Win by a landslide

Today’s idiom is:

WIN BY A LANDSLIDE

It looks like that candidate will win by a landslide.

No the candidate wasn’t actually in a landslide, although politicians will do just about anything to get a vote!

We use this idiom to say: get most of the votes; win by a large margin

This idiom comes from the idea that a landslide, which is rocks and dirt sliding down a mountain or hill, builds momentum and cannot be stopped.

As the presidential campaigns ramp up for the election November of 2016, this is a idiom you may hear often!
