Idioms: touch base

Many idioms come from sports.  Today’s is from the sport of baseball which wraps up their season this month with the World Series.

Today’s idiom is:

TOUCH BASE

Before you start the new project, let’s touch base.

We use this idiom to say:  we want to have contact with someone

This expression comes from the fact that a baseball player must touch all the bases when they run a round the field after a hit.
